Etude has always been guided by three core pillars: people, place, and Pinot Noir. From the very beginning, Pinot Noir has been at the heart of our story—an exacting varietal that demands precision both in the vineyard and the winery. It is this dedication that inspired our founding over 40 years ago and continues to drive our passion today.

Rooted in the belief that great winemaking begins in the vineyard, with that comes a passion for sustainable farming, and protecting the health of our vineyards, which we believe you can taste in every glass. For this reason, and more, we are committed to sustainability across all aspects of our winegrowing: producing sustainable wine, fostering healthy and inclusive communities, and minimizing our impact on the surrounding environment.

Our Grace Benoist Ranch estate in Carneros, comprising 24 distinct vineyard parcels, each with its own unique terroir, rootstock, and clone, serves as the foundation of our craft. Alongside fruit from other premier regions, these vineyards enable us to produce wines that are true expressions of their terroir.

Every bottle of Etude reflects this philosophy—a thoughtful expression of the finest vineyards, capturing the distinct character of its origin and telling the story of place with clarity and depth.

Grace Benoist Ranch, Carneros

Crafted from a diverse collection of vineyard parcels across Grace Benoist Ranch, each site lends its distinct character to the wine’s depth and complexity. Influenced by cooling maritime winds and fog, rooted in a mosaic of volcanic soils, and framed by protected woodlands, this Pinot Noir reveals a seamless balance of dark red fruit and earthy minerality, carried by a refined, open-weave texture—an elegant expression of its remarkable origin.

Heirloom, Grace Benoist Ranch, Carneros

Crafted from a rare and deliberate selection of heritage Pinot Noir clones from the most prized hillside parcels of Grace Benoist Ranch, this wine embodies the pinnacle of Etude’s Pinot Noir pedigree. Carefully propagated for their exceptional quality, these selections preserve a lineage rooted in excellence. Naturally low-yielding, the vines produce wines of remarkable depth, structure, and age-worthiness—among the most distinctive and enduring in the Etude portfolio.

Fiddlestix, Sta. Rita Hills

Located in a cool-climate, transverse valley within the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, this vineyard is defined by its distinctive geography and geology. An east–west corridor draws cold Pacific winds and fog inland, creating ideal conditions for Pinot Noir.

Ancient seabed soils—rich in deep clay, calcareous shale, and diatomaceous deposits—contribute to wines of depth, vibrancy, and finely tuned structure, hallmarks of world-class Pinot Noir.

We’re telling the story of our “journey to Pinot perfection” like never before and celebrating the elegance and complexity of this delicate varietal through themes of mindfulness, sustainability, and authentic connection.
