2025 Harvest Reflection

2025 Harvest Reflection

Growing Season

The 2025 growing season began with steady winter and spring rains that replenished soil moisture and supported healthy vine growth across Napa Valley. Cooler temperatures through much of the summer slowed ripening and extended the growing period, especially in Carneros where fog and bay breezes helped preserve bright acidity and aromatics. July remained one of the coolest on record, leading to even development and beautifully balanced fruit.

Harvest

Harvest began in early August with Pinot Gris and Chardonnay, followed by Pinot Noir from Grace Benoist Ranch in early September after Labor Day—a reflection of the cool summer and extended ripening period. The mild weather allowed for a steady, unhurried pace, letting the fruit reach ideal maturity with concentrated flavors and refined structure. Cabernet Sauvignon from our Napa Valley sites was harvested in early October, almost exactly mirroring the 2024 vintage. The 2025 wines are expected to show purity, balance, and a clear expression of place across all varietals.

“The 2025 vintage reminds us that patience and humility can be rewarded. A cooler than normal spring and summer allowed the grapes to slowly mature and retain all of the freshness and vibrancy that we love about a cool vintage. With no heat events to accelerate ripening and a few periods of lower-than-normal temperatures, it allowed for careful and thoughtful, un-rushed decisions on when to harvest each vineyard and parcel.  The resulting wines have incredible perfumed aromas and a lifted, graceful profile that keeps the wines light on their feet. The red wines have compelling charm and a balanced structure that will reward patient aging.” -Jon Priest, Senior Winemaker and General Manager
