2017 Grace Benoist Ranch, Carneros Estate, Pinot Noir

A vibrant red ruby trending garnet color, aromas of heady red plum, dark cherry and berry confiture dominate, alongside bright fresh fruit with slight bay and thyme, white pepper and slight oak spice. Flavors follow the same pattern, with the familiar cinnamon graham cracker note often found in this wine. Rich and round and showcasing red fruits such as Bing cherry, raspberry with bright acidity and long, fine-grained tannins that suggest the opportunity to age a bit for further development of complex layers of flavors. Glossy, a bit showy, a fine example of what Grace Benoist Ranch offers.

2017 Grace Benoist Ranch, Carneros Estate, Chardonnay

From six special acres in the heart of the Grace Benoist Ranch, our estate Chardonnay is iconic, representing all that is memorable about Carneros. Vibrant yet elegantly restrained, the wine is crafted as a showcase for the fruit, without malolactic fermentation and the lightest touch of oak. Aromas and flavors of pineapple, Granny Smith apple and Bartlett pear, Meyer lemon and a beautiful minerality are accompanied by lemon zest and citrus blossom. A solid backbone of acidity, with great structure and balance, are the signature of this wine each vintage.

Vineyard Notes

The vineyard parcels on Grace Benoist Ranch are customized to conform to the various soil types and the changing contours of the topography. Individual vineyards average only 8 acres in size and the spacing is dense to ensure low per vine yields of fully concentrated fruit. As stewards of the property, Etude remains steadfast in our commitment to adhere to sustainable agricultural practices that enable us to farm in concert with the surrounding environment.
